Apples
Selection - Choose apples that don't dent when you press your fingers against them.
Storage - When taking your apples home, it is best to store them in your refrigerator. They can keep for about six weeks this way. (HINT - Do not store apples next to green vegetables. Green vegetables are sensitive to the ethylene gas (a natural gas) produced by apples).
Preparation - Gently run under cool water. Eat whole or cut into slices, with or without skin.
Nutritional Information - Apples are high in vitamins C and A, a good source of fiber, low in sodium, and cholesterol free. One serving, 1 medium-size apple (about 5 oz.), has 81 calories.
